How We Train Our Staff

Every new installation presents a challenge to the company’s staff maintenance engineers. It is advisable that these engineers receive familiarisation in the installation in order to efficiently conduct their maintenance activities.

When a new installation is complete, a full set of documentation will be provided by Coldcurve. During training, these drawings will be used to explain the detail of the machine/process controls and functioning. The training acts as a useful secondary education for the service staff to update them on any new symbols or standards that they may not have been familiar with.

The staff will be in position to conduct troubleshooting of the equipment by the end of the training and will be familiar with the equipment such that they can identify and locate exact nodes on the control system. This is necessary should the service staff require to telephone the Coldcurve personnel for assistance, or for identification of faults by telephone.

A telephone helpline is available to the customers as part of a maintenance contract that we recommend that the customer and Coldcurve set-up.

  • What is expected?

It is expected that every new installation will perform to expectations after commissioning. In order to keep the equipment in good condition, it is necessary that the equipment receives suitable Programmed Preventive Maintenance. A programme will be customised to the needs of the equipment and will typically be carried out quarterly.

A schedule will typically include a computerised scan of the control software, mechanical and electrical inspection of the system components, replacement filtration where required, and capture of thermal images of key items of switchgear and rotating gear. These images will be collated every visit and will be analysed and compared to archive to measure wear and decide when replacement is required. It is customary that the Coldcurve engineer will engage with the staff engineers and operators to share knowledge and experience during the visits.

  • What does a maintenance contract entitle you to?

The presence of a maintenance contract entitles the customer to the use of the telephone helpline. It also may reduce individual call out charges. Should a call out be required close to when a service is due then the service will be carried out after the call out problem has been dealt with and no call out charge will required.

  • PPM schedule

At the completion of each PPM, the Coldcurve engineers will be available to assist the customer with any other plant or equipment problems.

A PPM schedule will be drawn up after the commissioning and estimated costs quoted at that time. The costs will be in line with the charges detailed in the COLDCURVE ELECTRICAL DESIGN – TERMS AND CONDITIONS section.
